Valentine's Day

Friday night, we moved Carter into a big bed. In fact he has the bookcase headboard I grew up with as a girl, then Kristin used it with her girls, and now it is Carter's. We set the two beds in their room end to end, so the feet of each bed touch, into one long bed. The boys love crawling back and forth across them. We were worried about how Carter would wake up... if he'd roll out (despite the little bumpers we have on the side), and if he'd wander the house once he woke up. He wasn't nuts about it at first, but Friday night went ok.

This morning, Carter walked into our bedroom about 7 and touched my arm and smiled. I pulled him up on the bed with me, cuddling him in the middle of the bed. Then Alex walked in, and climbed in with me on my other side.

Admittedly, this is where it gets sappy....

Carter then started announcing... "Love you, Mommy... Love you, Alex... Love you, Daddy!" (Well, ok, actually, it's more like "OF ooooo ommy", "OF ooooo al-lex", "OF oooo addee"). Alex then announced that HE loved Carter, and wanted to hug him. The boys then spent a few minutes hugging each other over me, then tickling each other, then tickling me, then tickling Daddy (who was still sleeping and didn't quite appreciate the charm, I think). Then Alex announced, "Carter, let's go to OUR bed!" and off they went.

Great morning, no?
